Art and Engineering

The only difference in art between poetry and engineering is one of degree: an engineer physically incorporates the creative work of others much more than does a poet. The only difference in technique between a poem text and a software text is the degree of ambiguity allowed by the writer’s purpose. There is no difference in aesthetics between beauty and elegance or between ugliness and error.

I have never seen a visually repulsive diagram of information or process that was both semantically correct and functionally useful.
